Living life with pain and hardship is something we have all experienced at some time or another. I have discovered that when great changes happen in life they are often preceded by time of great chaos. During these times we can find ourselves standing on the shores of life looking over the current state of our personal disaster. When all we want is to be feeling good.
Sometimes we sink into the depths of despair, other times we are motivated to swim like crazy, but more often than not we tread water.
Treading water can feel safe, you’re floating and your heads above water, but you’re not actually propelling yourself at all.
Then one-day something/someone/an incident stops you in your tracks and it feels like you’ve come across a boulder emerging from the rough sea. You take a deep breath and scramble aboard – just for a moment.
For the first time in such a long time you get – PERSPECTIVE – you allow yourself time to reflect upon your current journey.
You turn around and look back over your life and find yourself in shock as you realise that for the past few weeks, months or even years you’ve been treading water – just keeping afloat but never really going anywhere.
While the past can’t be changed, we can make the decision to learn from our mistakes. When something you didn’t expect happens, always ask yourself “What have I to learn from this?” or “How can I use this to be a better person?”
To bring change to your circumstance you must start to FEEL GOOD. This may feel a tough task at first, and you may have to “fake it until you make it”.
BUT, only YOU have the power to re-create your life and you have overcome so many obstacles in the past. It’s time to take control of your mind and your thoughts. They are your thoughts.
The first step is to STOP looking back at the past, lamenting over the “what ifs of regret” and start actively looking for things to be grateful for.
You are definitely grateful that you came across this sturdy boulder to rest for a while. Be grateful that you did NOT sink when hardship became overwhelming.
Be grateful that you slowly regained your strength and quietly began your transformative healing journey whilst “treading water”.
Those weeks, months, years have led you to this safe place.
Right here right now, you have the power to make small new choices and with that comes a sense of GRATITUDE. Being grateful helps you start to FEEL GOOD. When you feel good you begin to find the strength to leap into your new life with purpose, clarity and direction.
When you think of things that feel good you raise your love vibration and begin to attract loving situations and people.
By FEELING grateful and good about yourself you change the energy you put out into the universe and fear and negative thought patterns start to fade away.
Go at your own speed, and don’t try to force things. Just add a little extra dose of positive energy to your life day after day.
This is an important step, because eventually a wave is going to come and sweep you off your safe quiet boulder and you will have to choose whether you are going to sink, tread water or swim!
Remember every conscious decision we make and every action we take happens in the present moment. The more you live in the present, the greater control you will have over your life.
Isn’t it time to start feeling good.
