No matter how old we are, we all have dreams of doing something amazing with our lives.

At a young age, we actually believe we can achieve anything. But as we get older, pretty much from the time we turn 13 or 14 years old, we are told that we need to be more realistic with our goals, that we have to start thinking about what careers we want to have, or what university we wanted to attend. That doing some sort of degree is the way to go if you want to have a successful life, no matter what you really desire to do. You need to make a choice based on what potential careers you can have, without even experiencing what it would be like to do it for the rest of your life.

The truth is, this is settling, and often means giving up what we are passionate about. But guess what? You can still do the things you have always dreamed about. Whether you want to be a singer, actor, musician, athlete, have your own business or your dream job, you can do it, and I’m going to give you 6 ways you can turn your dreams into reality.

1. Change Direction

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”- Henry Ford.   You don’t have to do what you have been doing the last 5 years, if you’re not getting what you want. Why waste another year doing the same thing, when it’s not what you want to be doing? By your own volition, start making changes, one day at a time.

2. Confront Your Fear

“A life lived in fear, is a life half lived.” – Baz Luhrmann. Address what you fear. Write a list of all the things that you are afraid of, everything that’s stopping you from achieving what you want to do. Is it money, security, what other people think, or are you afraid of failing? Don’t dismiss your fears, but don’t let them stop you. Accept the fears that are legitimate, and eliminate the fears that are based on what other people think.

3. Revise Your Goals

Take some time now to start all over again and go through your goals. Look deep into your heart and write down all the things you want to achieve or do. You know you have a higher purpose, so reach for something above and beyond what you think you can achieve.

4. Be Your Own Cheerleader

You have to start believing in yourself and the possibilities out there for you. It’s never too late to learn something new. There are so many things out there that you can do, whether it be taking a class or online course, learning a new skill, or even reading a book. The key is to be better today than you were yesterday.

5. Become Disciplined

Discipline is doing something when you don’t feel like it. Whether you want to exercise, study, learn an instrument or a new language, you have to keep at it! Remember, it’s not going to be easy, but if it was, everyone would do it!

6. Be Ferocious

When you have a clear picture of what you want, and you know what you need to do to achieve it, you can’t let anything stand in your way.

If you implement these 6 steps, you will start to see your dreams turn into a reality.
