Our skin is the largest organ in our body. So it’s important that you really take care of yours! There are a host of different skin conditions out there that can affect you. But if you are aware of their symptoms, you should be able to identify them in their early stages and take active steps to improve them! Here are just a few you should familiarise yourself with.

Acne

The majority of people will have outbreaks of spots at some point or another. However, acne is a condition that cause you to have regular or consistent outbreaks. It is generally caused by the glands in your skin creating an excessive amount of sebum. This sebum mixes with dead skin cells and blocks pores, causing irritation and possible infection. If you are suffering from acne, there are plenty of over the counter skin care products that could help your condition. It may take a little trial and error to determine what works best for your skin, but once you find something that seems to help, stick with it. If you don’t experience any success in finding helpful products, get in touch with a dermatologist who will be able to offer you further advice and guidance.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a skin condition that cause patches of your skin to itch, flake, and turn red. These patches may also have silvery scales over them. It affects men and women equally and generally begins affect people before they reach the age of thirty five. You can find more specific Psoriasis Symptoms here. Unfortunately, there is no steadfast cure to psoriasis. But there are measures that you can take to relieve irritation and encourage flare ups to dissipate as soon as possible. Contact your doctor who will be able to tell you what’s best for you as an individual suffering from the condition.

Eczema

Eczema is an extremely common skin condition, affecting around 35 million people in the US alone. So, if you find that you are suffering from eczema, you are by no means alone. Generally speaking, the condition tends to be more commonly associated with children (as it affects between ten and twenty percent of children at some point or another). However, the condition can continue through to adulthood, with between one and three percent of the adult population experiencing eczema associated outbreaks on a regular basis. So what does eczema actually do to you? Well, common symptoms include:

  • Dry Skin
  • Flaky Skin
  • Itching

Look out for signs of it on your hands, the back of your knees, your neck, and your elbows, as these are reported to be the most commonly affected areas of the body. If you believe you are suffering from eczema, contact your doctor. They should be able to diagnose the problem and prescribe emollient lotion, emollient cream, or an emollient oil.

These are just three different conditions that can affect your skin. Hopefully, the above information has helped you to better understand them! You never know when the information could come in useful.
