Counting your calories and being picky about what you eat or not eating at all may sound like effective ideas, but this may not be the case at all, which you may have realized. So, how can you manage your weight effectively and stay healthy? Here are some strategies you should consider.

  1. Get physically active

You’ll need to be active if you want to lose and maintain your weight. Make it a habit to engage in physical activity regularly. You can start by engaging in effective workout routines. Be sure to start with low-intensity exercises to avoid hurting yourself. You can take light jogs or brisk walks around your neighborhood. Activities such as swimming and cycling also create ways to have fun while you lose weight. Lifestyle changes such as using the stairs instead of the elevator or public transport ensure you get some form of physical activity done every day.

2. Consider surgical treatment

Losing weight can be challenging. This is especially the case if your weight exceeds a level that makes it easy for you to move or do various activities. In such cases, you may want to consider alternative options such as weight loss surgery. This treatment is beneficial to persons who keep struggling with losing weight. Don’t be deceived into thinking this is the easy way out! It is an equally brave decision to make to ensure you live a healthy and full life.

3. Cut down screen time

People who spend a lot of time in front of screens are more likely to be obese. Set time limits for watching TV, playing video games, and using computers, phones, and tablets for non-school purposes. Turn off all screens one hour before night to get enough sleep.

4. Reduce sugar content

Sugar content is high in many soft and alcoholic drinks. Obesity and weight gain can be caused by sugar consumption. Fizzy beverages, energy drinks, and other soft drinks contain high amounts of sugar. Replace these beverages with natural fruit juices and smoothies. Water is the most acceptable option for relieving your thirst because it is both healthful and inexpensive. Additionally, water consumption improves your health by aiding the various systems to function properly and flushing out toxins.

Low-fat milk and sugar-free beverages, such as tea and coffee are also better options. Alcohol calories are ’empty calories,’ meaning they have no nutritional benefit. Since alcohol cannot be stored in the body, functions such as food absorption and fat burning are disrupted to rid the body of the alcohol. You can still drink alcohol, but try to limit your intake. Many alcoholic brands now offer “light” or low-alcohol equivalents, or you can use a low-calorie mixer like diet coke.
