Everyday we are inundated with choices, from the little things in life like what to eat and wear to the larger than life choices such as relationship and workplace choices. But today I want to talk about some of the little choices that we don’t realise that we actually have.
During the winter months you can walk the streets of Melbourne on those cold, wet and dreary days and look at the faces of those you walk past. At times there is not one smile that you pass. With winter coats and scarves pulled tightly around there bodies and faces and eyes fixed in a downward stare they hurriedly walk to their destinations. At times it seems that it is too much to give someone a smile or a good morning/g’day and most people don’t stop to look at what is around them.
If you happen to say hello to someone you don’t know, a lot of people will look at you suspiciously. Unfortunately that is the world we live in now. We are all so wrapped up in our own little worlds that we forget to look around us and see what a wonderful world it can be. I know that people will be cynical and tell me that the world today is not wonderful because of all the terrorism, trauma and pain. But what if, for just one day we all woke up with a different perspective and chose to believe that all was good in the world. I’m not saying to hide yourself from the realities of the world but just look around at what is actually good in the world.
So I am putting a challenge out there, tomorrow morning when you wake up, before you get out of bed just…stop, think about all the things you are grateful for and make a choice to have a wonderful day.
So I am putting a challenge out there, tomorrow morning when you wake up, before you get out of bed just…stop, think about all the things you are grateful for and make a choice to have a wonderful day. Smile or say hello to someone you don’t know, show empathy or compassion to someone who may be hurting or pay it forward in any small way that you can and I promise you your day will be much better!
